A chance to go “off grid” and be free from everyday stresses The Lookerer, along with its sister Rumwold, sits in a sheep meadow with wonderful views across the marsh and up to the ridge where you will find Lympne Castle which was built in the 1080's for the Archdeacons of Canterbury. Bright, warm and inviting with all the necessary amenities, a well thought out kitchenette and living area with a lovely wood burning stove, plus a thoughtful welcome pack of local produce, this Shepherds hut is a delightfully romantic base for your holiday in Kent.

Cute and comfy! 5/5

We loved our short stay. The shepherds hut was so sweet and had everything we needed for a comfortable night. It was really peaceful and quiet, and we were surrounded by nature, it was perfect.

Wonderful! 5/5

A wonderful base from which to relax, restore and explore. Very well appointed and full of thoughtful details - everything you might possibly need. Any establishment that provides a teapot for their guests is truly going the extra mile. Thank you so much - I'm looking forward to a return visit already!!!

Little slice of heaven 5/5

We had the most amazing stay at the lookerer hut, we wish we had stayed longer than one night to fully make the most of it. Being surrounded by sheep was so peaceful and having the lit path to the hut was perfect for the dark night. The hut is spacious and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The little Christmas touches also made it more magical. The log burner kept the hut warm for hours but having the additional little heater was perfect. The bathroom was well heated too with the towel rail and use of the robes made the whole experience more comfortable. Having tea and coffee, milk, jam and marshmallows was a fantastic addition and the biscuits were heavenly!! The hut was spotlessly clean and a complete magical haven. We would love to come back and stay in spring time to enjoy the sheep and lambs!

Great weekend 5/5

We rented the 2 huts that are close together yet retain perfect privacy. We had a great weekend enjoying glorious sunshine and torrential rain. How nice to be so warm and snug and listen to that rain! There was room to enjoy supper together in one hut and then traipse home the 15 steps to our own abode. Stunning views, gorgeous sheep and the sea nearby. Perfection. Thank you.

Perfect! 5/5

I was astonished by our little Shepherds Hut. Absolutely everything had been provided. Just when you thought you’d found something it didn’t have there it was. I said oh shame no wooden board for cheese, then found it. Then thought, oops no heatproof glove for the woodburner, and it was hanging up. Honestly it was so well equipped, even marshmallows, and a Nespresso machine!!! The hut was toastie warm and a lovely break away from TV and telephones. I took some battery operated candles which looked amazing and the outdoor fire pit provided a lovely ambience. We played cards, drank wine (a bottle provided also) and listened to music, we had taken a speaker but there was a radio I spotted on the shelf. I must admit the weather wasn’t kind to us and I felt bad that the sheep were out getting wet (obviously not a country girl). But it was lovely that they were around, initially they kept their distance, but after a while starting to come closer. It was just perfect and I will definitely return. We had wanted to star gaze but unfortunately the clouds were too low, an excuse to return . The hut was spotless and the shower was incredible, not the power you would associate with a Shepherds Hut!! If there was one thing missing that would be good weather, but that is beyond anyone’s control. Otherwise an ideal get away for some peace and quiet, and opportunity to read and reflect

Amazing value for the views and service provided! 5/5

We had the best weekend stay in The Lookerer shepherds hut and couldnt recommend it to enough people! The interior was decorated beautifully, making it feel very homely and cosy - even on a sweltering weekend in June! The surroundings are stunning and every detail had been thought of - down to the marshmallows for the fire. Thank you again for having us & we hope to be back soon!

Lovely stay in a shepherds hut 5/5

Thank you for a lovely stay! The view was very special with the sun rising/setting over the fields. The sheep were in the same field and around us lots of the time which was lovely. We had a nice walk around the field, The shepherds hut was very special, clean and beautiful. We cooked breakfast in the morning on the hob. We had wood for the fire pit and it was nice and warm in the shepherds hut. Thank you for a very special stay Kristina and for letting us stay a little longer!

Great stay in beautiful surroundings! 5/5

Lovely one night stay and a beautiful setting. Super cosy! We would have loved a later check out rather than 10am as we felt quite rushed to leave. We didn’t have anything to put our dirty linen in but everything else was just perfect!!

Super short stay! 4.8/5

Fantastic location, really comfy bed, we would definitely stay again! We had a few questions and they got back to us in an instant. Most importantly is that it’s one of the most beautiful parts of the marsh and you’re right in the middle of it! You can almost smell the smugglers groaning as they carry their loot through the soggy channels.

Satisfaction as expected 4.5/5

Shepherds Huts seem all the rage at the moment and it was partly to satisfy our curiosity that we booked. The two huts are closer to one another that they really need to be resulting in being able to see into our shower room from the neighbouring patio; a good curtain would help. But we had no noise from our neighbours. The hut is well equipped for the couple of nights we stayed but honestly we were glad not to have booked longer and that the weather was good. Space, we appreciate, is at a premium here and the use of it was very good. However cushions for inside folding chairs would have been an added bonus. There is the matter of one person having to sleep next to the wall and thus climb over the other person to get out of bed that presents an additional problem. But as I say it was only two nights. A full size shower was appreciated as well as a very well-equipped kitchen. I suppose the real question is ‘What is the difference between a shepherds hut and a caravan?’ The answer has to be ‘Marketing’ They are on trend at the moment so maybe worth a try if, like us, you want to satisfy your curiosity.

The Lookerer 5/5

Lovely Shepherd's Hut, in a beautiful location, quiet with stunning views. Very much enjoyed our couple of days walking in the local area, spotting wildlife and eating at the local pub, The Shepherd and Crook, which we would thoroughly recommend, great food and friendly staff. Thank you! Gill and Pete Gallon

Lovely weekend stay! 4.8/5

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in the Lookerer hut last weekend. The hut was equipped with everything you could need and it was immaculate! The location was great, with the beach just a short drive away. It was also lovely having friendly sheep neighbours! We would definitely visit again 🙂

Peaceful get away 4.8/5

spent 4 nights in the looker it was such a wonderful experience, wonderfully peaceful, beautiful views in a field full of sheep. No tv, so very peaceful and romantic. We sat around the bar-b-que/fire pit and listened to our music, chatting and looking at the stars which were wonderful as there is little light pollution. If you light the log burner in the hut it will keep you toasty, it works so well. I could spend a fortune on all the sheep products in the shop. I have bought a wool hat, a poncho and a large wool herringbone blanket. They are all wonderful high-quality products ad have another item on order.

A great break 4.8/5

Our 3rd visit to Christina on the farm. Everything great, as usual. The hut is kitted out well for its size and the bed is really comfy. A bottle of wine was left, along with butter, bread, milk, biscuits, marshmallows, tea and coffee. Sadly, the weather this year was too warm for us to use the excellent log burner, as we did last year, the external fire pit is great for a BBQ and for keeping warm on chilly evenings. Went for walks along the sea front at Dymchurch as well as the little RH&D Railway. Excellent pub at Burmarsh, The Shepherd and Crook, and The White Horse at Bilsington. All in all an excellent 3 day break for us.

A very peaceful and relaxing break 5/5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Shepherds hut, firstly the location is perfect with far reaching views across the countryside. The shepherds hut was very comfortable and provided everything we needed with some thoughtful extra touches from the owner. Apart from simply unwinding with a good book and making use of the fire pit outside, the shepherds huts are in a good location to enjoy the coast and countryside, lots of walks and good pubs to stop at in the area. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Perfect little get away 5/5

We really enjoyed our stay at The Romney Marsh huts from start to finish - I fact we didn’t want to leave. The huts are very cosy and have everything you need in them. No need to take anything except clothes! And a few of your fave toiletries but even some of those are supplied - Shampoo, Conditioner, body wash and body lotion. We had a mixture of weather over the whole weekend - even the rain didn’t ruin our stay as we made the most of the huts by putting the fire on and looking out over the fields to the amazing view while the rain came down. Soon as the rain stopped we went for a lovely walk in the surrounding area. Perfect little get away. Will definitely return.

An adventure cut short 3.8/5

I was looking forward to my stay. Didn't take me too long to reach my destination. Inside the Shepherd's Hut looked very nice. It was spotless inside. Very nicely kitted out. Great and lovely attention to detail providing me with a great sense of location. However, for me staying in the Hut proved a bit too much of a challenge. Within a few hours I started to feel unwell. Sadly, I found staying in the Hut triggered feelings of claustrophobia after I shut the doors to the Hut. Following my departure and driving home my feelings of being unwell disappeared extremely quickly. I was extremely surprised at my reaction. I am very sorry that I couldn't stay on for my two night stay. The bed was very comfortable and the view and location of the Hut was wonderful. I had also been looking forward to visiting a very good vineyard the following day. In terms of value for money I am not so sure. One little criticism. The fridge is very small so having my own cool bag proved very handy.

The Perfect Staycation! 5/5

I have just spent two of the most wonderful nights with my daughter at the Romney Marsh Shepherds Huts! We were so excited to escape the city and spend some time in the countryside with the sheep. The huts are exactly as described on their website and the reality far exceeded our expectations. They were clean, well-equipped, comfortable, and stylish. There was nothing that we felt was missing. You really wouldn't know that you were staying in a field of sheep if you didn't look out of the window; it was as good as a luxury hotel room. Throughout our stay, we experienced a range of weather conditions, all of which posed no problem for the hut. They are well insulated and stable, so wind and rain were absolutely no problem. In fact, we look forward to visiting again in the winter to make use of the wood-burning stove and hot water bottle! We spent most of the day just enjoying the company of the sheep and lambs, which was very calming and we left feeling recharged. The sheep seem quite tame as they will come up to the huts while you are sitting outside in the little enclosed area, which was exactly what we were hoping for. We can't wait to visit again in the near future!

Shepherd's Delight 5/5

Just returned from a 2 night stay at 'The Lookerer' shepherds hut at Romney Marsh. What a fantastic little escape. Felt like a million miles from anything but just 10 mins drive to a beautiful sandy beach at Dymchurch. Everything was provided in the huts plus a few extras like the delicious organic wine! It was spotless, bed very comfortable, views breathtaking across the fields. I fell in love with our friendly sheep neighbours who are probably the best neighbours I've ever had. I could've stayed forever looking out at those fields, the serenity, peace and quite and living a simple life. Just magical. Thank you so much for sharing your farm with us and giving people a taste of the good life
