Great cosy hideaway. Dungeness is remote and wild. Exactly what we wanted. Radar is stylish and comfortable with a stunning view. The interior has been really well planned and is a stark contrast to the exterior.

Location perfect and unique building 4.5/5

Beautiful, unusual location with no obstructions to the view. Interior was perfect, very nicely designed and bed comfortable. Enjoyed our stay. Only cons were the sauna wasn't working during our stay which was disappointing although the owner did compensate for this. And the bath was wonderful but the water didn’t get very hot to fill it. But overall would recommend and would stay again.

Stunning Property in a Superb Location 5/5

We were delighted by our short break in Radar. From the minute we stepped through the front door we loved the layout and the design. The sauna and bath added a real touch of luxury to the property. The bed was extremely comfortable, which isn't always a given in a holiday rental. The views across the shingle are spectacular; although you can see people walking to the end of the nearby boardwalk, the house is relatively private. There's tons to do in the area; mediaeval churches, RSPB reserve, sound mirrors, RH&DR railway etc. Plus Camber Sands and Rye nearby too.

We had a fabulous time here at Radar! The place was perfect for sunset and sunrise, with the view of the lighthouse at the back, which was stunning in the morning. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was amazing. The kitchen could have been cleaner and we found a few dog poo bags out the back, which were overlooked before we got there. We stayed for a week, so could have done with a few more toilet rolls. The weather was wonderful, so we done lots of beach combing and ship and bird watching - if you have binoculars - take them! The wildlife is amazing. The little foxes came to visit every evening, which was magical. We will definitely be back!

A beautiful property 4.8/5

A stunning property, beautifully designed and appointed in an amazing location. It’s clean and comfortable too, substance as well as style. There’s no tv but the window wall provided plenty to watch; birds, bunnies, weather and people. The parking is a little walk away, not on site, so we mostly found it easier to park in the public parking spaces nearby, which was fine. I would have liked to have the manufacturer user guides for the appliances, operating things like the sauna are not as intuitive as the info pack makes out! We loved the property and had a brilliant time, hope to return soon.

Radar Review 5/5

The location is perfect if you want to get away from it all . We parked the car Friday we didn’t use it again till we packed up Monday . The design is excellent and though you are in the middle of the shingle you feel secluded. The windows offer a perfect view , we watched the boats bobbing along as well a good deal of people watching. In the evening as the day visitors left the place became quiet and you felt part of a very unusual but wonderful place . The outdoor area provided a perfect shelter from the wind where we sat and watched the sun go down . Sleeping in the bed was so comfortable and to wake up looking at the sea was perfect . Everything we needed for the perfect escape was provided, design and functionality can’t be faulted. Being dog friendly was a real bonus we don’t get the opportunity to stay in high end places often with dogs .

We loved our stay at Radar in the unique surroundings of Dungeness. The property has been beautifully converted and is very stylish. The views to the sea, lighthouse and power station are stunning. The circular bath was a treat. The lack of a television was the only drawback for us. .

A break from city life 5/5

Wanted an unique getaway for a special birthday. Living in London I wanted to surprise my spouse with a getaway that required no plane travel. The weather cooperated but I would have enjoyed the location no matter the weather. The view to the south was as though we were in a truly remote location. The property is ideal for a couple as the kitchen is adequately supplied with what is needed for a brief getaway; there is a sauna, large tub, a sleeping area that can be made more private with the curtain but one can also wake to sunshine and the expansive view. The windows throughout make the outside feel as though it is truly a part of the living area. It is a short drive to Rye. The shoreline is not for swimming but one can walk along the water's edge (although it will not be a quick walk). This location is all about savouring its surroundings and its comforts within.

Cocooned from the weather you could visit during a storm (we did) and it was lovely and cosy. Fully stocked kitchen, in terms of utensils etc., means that you need do no more than bring ingredients (or have them delivered). Perfect for a short-break.

House was amazing, very modern and great features Spoilt though that you could not see through key feature, the big window. Would of happily cleaned if tools supplied. House very warm, even with no heating. Also people walking past, not as secluded as was made out Oh, and the fog horn beeping for 5 hours (suppose we were next to a light house!) We absolutely loved our stay here. The accommodation was high quality and clean. It was a great location for walks along the coast, close to several pubs and restaurants.The sunsets and the sunrises were something else, and even enticed us to get up early each day. It made for a great relaxing experience and we didn’t want to leave. We can’t wait to return someday.

We had a fantastic week at the Radar Station. My wife and I first visited Dungeness more than 25 years ago and it has special significance for us. We were looking for somewhere to celebrate a ‘significant’ wedding anniversary and the choices were limited during lockdown, when we booked the Radar Station. However we couldn’t have found a more luxurious and special place to stay. There were a few niggles: lighting in the kitchen area was frustrating, the stairs from the sleeping area can be tricky to navigate at night and a broom or vacuum cleaner would have been a helpful addition. But in terms of design aesthetic and location it was perfect.

A silent paradise at the end of the world 4.7/5

The place looks so insignificant from the outside but once you enter it it’s like opening the door to somewhere completely else. Sleek and tasteful design. Pure harmony in colors and lines. Wonderful view and a well equipped kitchen. The sauna a hot tub next to it is amazing. On the downside and what I really suggest the owners to provide for future clients is shower products as well as toothpaste. Small coats compared to the substantial rent fee. Also to access the house at 15.00 is late and should be made earlier, at least 13.00. But lovely stay and we are definitely going back.

Totally Unique Experience 5/5

We have never stayed in such an unusual area - like being on the set of Star Wars with the Australian outback thrown in for good measure - industrial and raw nature mixed together. Radar itself was pure luxury and the surrounding villages and beaches were lovely, especially Rye and Camber Sands - definitely want to re visit

Radar Stay 3.5/5

Radar is a beautiful property, in a great location for Dungeness. Unfortunately for us, we were unable to enjoy the facilities it had to offer due to having 2 power cuts for 3 of the 7 days we were there. The power cuts were in the whole of the Dungeness area and left us without electric, heating or hot water. When the power was working it was great, however the premium cost we paid fo the property we didn't get to make use out of it. Bloom were unable to offer any compensation or discount for when the power was out.

Unusual Holiday Accommodation 5/5

Despite the stark exterior of Radar, the interior is very modern and stylish with high-end appliances. Radar is conveniently located within a short walk of the Britannia Inn and the cafe at the Dungeness steam railway station, where good take away coffee is available. The views from Radar are super, particularly of the sunrise. We would have appreciated “how to” instructions on use of the appliances - we never did get to grips with the induction hob! The details for Radar state that there is a smart tv but there is no tv, only an Apple computer which is not easily used by the non computer literate! Overall we enjoyed our stay at this unusual property.

It's all about the view 4/5

This is a beautiful property in a unique and very atmospheric location and we very much enjoyed our stay there. The large living room window gives an unobstructed view of the shingle beach, the sea and the sky and one of the pleasures of staying here is to sit and watch the sky change with the weather or with the time of day. The whole property has been arranged to make the most of the view, so you can watch it from the sofa, from the bed and from the bath. The property is warm and comfortable and you feel very protected from the elements. The decor is very modern, clean lines, neutral colours and interesting textures. The settee and the bed are both extremely comfortable and the tableware and kitchenware are all very good quality. The sauna is an added bonus. I do have some criticisms of the design of the property, however. The toilet is a long way from the sleeping area and you have to go down four steps to get there. The outer doors are very heavy and have no handle on the outside, which makes them difficult to close when you leave the building. I have a further criticism about the management of the property: the blind on the window beside the bed would not close properly; the handbasin in the bathroom only drained very slowly and the dishwasher did not get the dishes clean and we gave up trying to use it and washed our dishes by hand. It took us three attempts before we were able to speak to someone in Bloom Stays to report these matters.

A weekend on the Dungeness beach 4.8/5

Staying on the beach at Dungeness has long been an ambition of mine. We experienced very stormy weather during our visit at the end of October but stayed very snug inside. As a retired engineer I very much appreciated Radar's high quality construction and fitout. The view through the enormous picture window was wild and stunning. A slight negative for us was that the allotted parking space is 400m away and the nearest you can get to unload the car is 70m.

A great place to watch the weather roll in 4.5/5

RADAR on Dungeness beach is a wonderful place to spend some time, while enjoying the otherworldly surroundings and somewhere I'd highly recommend. The building itself looks fairly plain from a distance, and lacks some of the architectural impact of some of the other holiday homes in the area. In fact you could be forgiven for thinking it looked like the remains of a PoW camp on first inspection, with its plain facade, lack of street facing windows and corrugated walls and roof. However this is very much a stealth home, with the details only really coming clear on closer inspection. The russet metal walls, the pick concrete and the used railway sleepers for a path. Entering into the property is a whole different matter, with a beautiful wooden hallway leading into a combined living dining space full of soft tones, natural textures and statement furniture. The space itself is compact and cozy, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. However with the huge windows looking out over the shingle, you never feel hemmed in, as the whole beach becomes part of your living space. Like many, the highlight for us was the compact 2 person sauna, which got liberal use throughout our stay. Perfect for a late autumnal stay. The property is in a super interesting location, sitting as it does in the shadow of Dungeness B nuclear power station, and surrounded by the remnants of both civil and military engineering, along with the detritus of a small local fishing fleet. So the area is well worth exploring. The snack shack was a regular haunt of ours, serving fresh seafood wraps and rolls on the shingle. There are a few interesting galleries, which have an outsider art meets burning man vibe. This is most noticeably seen in the garden design at Prospect Cottage, the former how of director Derek Jarman. On a practical level the kitchen is pretty small, and you'll need to bring things like baking foil with you if you want to cook up any of the local fresh fish. Similarly, while they provide you with had soap, you'll need to bring your own shampoo and shower gel. The kitchen units are white, the table blonde and the lack of coasters meant we were constantly paranoid about leaving marks. As such it felt like we were staying at a friends house and needing to be extra careful, rather than being able to fully relax and feel at home. The 3 out of 5 for customer service was mostly there as we didn't really have any contact with the owners or booking agent so didn't really experience any service to speak of (which was fine by us). On the whole, RADAR is a wonderful place to stay and we could defnitly see ourselves coming back here at some stage in the future. Enjoy.

We had three nights in Radar on the shingle of Dungeness. Loved it all but be warned there is no fence around the property so nothing to contain dogs. Very comfortable inside; well designed and surprisingly spacious. Difficult to cool down though if it's hot as limited ventilation

Idyllic shelter 5/5

Radar is a well designed functionally flawless property in the Dungeness estate. The fixtures and fittings are high end and all needs were catered for. Its great that it is dog friendly also although there is no fencing so be warned if your pooch likes to roam. The highlight for me was the sauna not to mention the amazing vista from living space and large bath. Of note there is not an actual smart TV but an iMac computer. Would definitely return to Radar. Bloom stays were a pleasure to deal with, answering any questions efficiently.

Beautiful Radar 5/5

We absolutely loved the Radar. It was so comfortable and beautifully thought through. We loved all the many design features. The picture window was stunning. We are cold water enthusiasts and so enjoyed a dip in the sea, a cold shower and then a sauna or a hot bath, looking over the beach. So relaxing, we felt fully recharged to go back to our city life.

The sauna failed to work after a power cut but was fixed 2 days later. There were 3 steps leading from the mezzanine and I fell down these at night and badly bruised myself, so I would recommend a stair rail.
