In the Area

There are wonderful coastal walks from the property to Folkestone (1.5 miles) and Hythe (3.2 miles) and each town has a wealth of activities on offer.

Folkestone provides a choice of eateries, cafes and ice cream shop as well as the renowned Rock Salt Wine bar and restaurant (bookings are a must!) The new Harbour arm is a walk back in time to see and experience life in war time when the troops were collected by ships to sail into battle. The entire Dover to Folkestone coast is packed with war time history. Today the arm is full of trendy street stall cafes, wine bars and entertainment. The old high street and the creative quarter welcomes you to some trendy shops and art galleries. With so much in Folkestone to enjoy you will have a jam packed weekend and for those looking to see more the neighbouring town of Hythe has the miniature railway, the military canal with romantic boat hire and Port Lympne animal reserve park.

Folkestone is located by the Eurotunnel in Cheriton and also the Dover docks - both within 15 minutes drive from Channel View. London is less than 1.5 hours drive away and trains go in to Ashford International directly then taxi or into Folkestone Central.

What about the extra bits to complete your break away?

Weekend by the Coast 5/5

What a great find, perfect location by the seaside and easy to walk to local pubs 5 minutes away and then half hour into Folkestone Harbour Arm for food and entertainment. Joanna was a great host and arrival information was perfect, loved hearing a little of the cabins history. We were blessed with he weather so enjoyed many elements of the stay including eating al fresco and a relaxing glass of wine in the swinging seat !! Everything was as described and nice comfy bed made sleeping bliss.

Lovely Easter weekend 5/5

My boyfriend and I spent a really lovely Easter weekend at Pebbles. It was clean, comfy and being right by the sea was such a treat. Had everything we needed for a few nights, and easy walking distance to pubs and shops. Thanks Joanna for the warm welcome 🙂

We loved it! 4.8/5

We loved it for many reasons, but particularly the immediacy of the sea. So close to the water, we felt we were on a ship! Would recommend to anyone.

Sandgate's Ultimate Retreat 5/5

An Idyllic Getaway: Perfectly Situated for Serenity and Spectacular Views. This charming, thoughtfully designed retreat offers couples a cosy haven right by the water's edge. Complete with a spacious sun deck and elevated quarterdeck for barbecues and unwinding, it's an ideal spot to revel in the ever-changing beauty of the English Channel stretching between Folkestone and Hythe.

A great stay 4.3/5

Joanna , the host , was amazing and made us feel comfortable and on our check out gave us a gift . The place is ideally located on the beachfront . The sound of the sea is so soothly and immediately helps you to distress. Everything was perfect . We will return as its simply beautiful.

Perfect location ! 4.7/5

Brilliant little cabin with incredible views. Peaceful place & close to Sandgate cafes and Folkestone street food on the Harbour Arm. Great location to explore coast - Samphire Hoe and Dungeness, and pretty pastel houses in Deal. Cycle hire nearby and everywhere is flat paths and accessible along the coast path. Joanna was lovely and the perfect host. We’d love to visit again!

Beachside bliss 5/5

Pebbles is the perfect bolt-hole for those wanting autonomy and flexibility by the sea. The terrace and eating area are what makes the place extra special. It reminded me of times spent in Italy, walking around on warm floor slabs and such close access to the beach. The small but perfectly laid out interior has everything you need. Hearing the sea is soothing and the ever changing sea-scape and sky-scapes are mesmerising. From glancing at France, to the towers at Dungeness , the passing ships at dusk and the crunching of passers-by on the beach pebbles. Loved it all. Working from Pebbles was a bit difficult as I couldn't get good internet connection, but then a break was probably what I needed and any emails I needed to catch up on I managed out and about on my adventures. The provision of beach towels and a carry bag was a helpful touch from the lovely owners who have made Pebbles the wonderful place it is.

I'd rather be at Pebbles! 4.7/5

We visited on a chilly February weekend & absolutely loved it. Pebbles is right on the beach, so when the weather is poor you can lay in bed all cosy & warm watching the rain pelting against the window & listening to the waves crashing against the pebble beach. And when the sun shines the view is beautiful and the room lights up. With regards to facilities, the room has all you need for a weekend break with a basic kitchen. There is also a large outside area, which in the summer would be perfect for sunbathing with a book, and considerably more comfortable than the pebble beach. Location-wise, it is perfect for a short walk into Sandgate where there are some great places to eat & drink (particularly The Providence Inne, where Daryl will sort out some cracking seafood for you). And slightly further afield Folkstone offers everything you could want, still close enough to walk to. Joanna was a lovely host, and I am sure we will be returning again for a relaxing break away from London sometime soon. Cheers, Ryan & Becky

Cosy space 5/5

Stayed for 3 nights and it was glorious! The beach side accommodation was perfect for the two of us plus the weather was glorious which made it even better. It was clean, well equipped and the host we met, Jo, was a gracious host. There is no oven but a portable hob, microwave and slow cooker meant you could, very easily, prepare simple meals without a loss of hassle. There is a tiered BBQ area you can also use as well as a large patio area overlooking the sea. You can walk from there to both Folkestone and Hythe along the sea front but only minutes away from local shops. We had a wonderful break and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Very happy with our stay in Pebbles 5/5

The property was great, as they say small but perfectly formed! It was very cheerfully decorated, warm, well equipped and a very relaxing place to stay right on the beach. Jo and Jerry were very friendly nice people, helpful and responded immediately to any query. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we didn't have much opportunity to use the well equipped terrace and only used the Quarterdeck to BBQ a couple of times but they are excellent additions. Would love to return especially if we could book a heatwave too.

A much needed weekend away 5/5

After 15 months staring at the inside of an apartment, a weekend staring at the English Channel from the sun deck of this wonderful property was a sheer delight. The property is excellently equipped for a cosy getaway for a couple with breathtaking views of the coast, private open air deck for relaxing, a sun deck with a BBQ for even more relaxing, and close to fantastic shopping, bars and restaurants. The hosts are welcoming and available should you need anything, and a wonderful couple to spend time with. This is our third stay at this coastal gem and we look forward to staying here again.

Pebbles - for a perfect relaxing break. 5/5

Pebbles is a delightful accommodation - perfect for its position so close to the sea with easy access to the pathway by the sea (flat as well) to walk to either to Folkestone or Hythe. Everything you need is provided for a self catering break, with places to eat not too far away if required. A very quiet and peaceful and private area perfect for relaxation. We had a lovely time there. Joanne made us feel very welcome when we arrived and gave us information on the locality and checked that we were happy with everything - a perfect host.

Great stay in Sandgate 4.8/5

Pebbles is a great little beachside retreat in Kent. Whilst it's just a few feet from the beach and a 10 minute stroll to some local pubs and cafes, both Folkestone and Hythe are also in within walking distance. The property has plenty of space for 2 people and has a enough facilities to make light lunches or even a bbq. Very friendly and helpful host on hand if you need anything but who will also give you the privacy to enjoy a relaxing break.

Stephen Knight | 16 June 2021

Perfect! 4.8/5

Our two day stay at pebbles was perfect. I can’t think of anything that would’ve improved it. The location is outstanding, and the cabin is fabulous with perfect outside seating as well. Joanna, the host is lovely, and the little parting gift was a lovely thought.

Caroline Shearer | 15 June 2021

Super location 5/5

Wonderfully located cabin, a few steps from the beach with lovely (bracing) walks to Hythe or Folkestone. We experienced all 4 seasons in 1 week but this didn't detract from our enjoyment at all. Very comfy cabin and lovely to see and listen to the waves from your bed. Jo was a delightful host. Suffice to say we've already booked for next year.

David Floyd | 24 May 2021

Really good break 4.7/5

The arrangements and organisation by the company Bloom Stays was excellent. We were welcomed warmly by the proprietor. The accommodation provided us with superb views of the beach. We enjoyed good walks along the Leas. Lovely holiday and break.

Wake up to the sound of the waves. 4.8/5

Amazing location. Walk straight out of the cabin onto the beach. Extremely spacious terrace area to soak up the morning sun, and an idyllic outdoor cooking/bbq area with heater to enjoy the sea air at all times of the year. Joanna and Jerry were very attentive and gracious hosts. Highly recommend!

Bank holiday weekend break 4.8/5

Pebbles is a gem on the Kent coast. The lodge has the most beautiful sea views and is spotlessly clean and well equipped. Joanna the host was very welcoming and took the time to talk to us which was lovely (thank you for the mug too!). Pebbles is the perfect place for couples to relax. With Covid we decided to self cater - although the kitchen area is small, we were able to cook some simple meals to enjoy. We used the slow cooker which has been recently added to the property and was great. Very close to things worth visiting. Would highly recommend!

Had a lovely stay here at Pebbles, very comfortable stay. We've done such a lot of sightseeing whilst here, nice to lay on bed and watch out over the channel and watch all the ships passing. We had dinner out at the Norfolk Hotel which was great. Would recommend and we would love to come back.

Well, what can we say? We have had a wonderful week at Pebbles. We came to spend Christmas with our family in Sandgate and arrived exhausted having driven here from Ager in SW France, where we have lived for 18 years, and driven first to Chelmsford, then Lincolnshire before settling in here for 7 glorious restful nights. Christmas Day was a beautiful sunny day, calm sea and amazing views. Plenty of rain and rough seas lashed the shores but we have been warm and cosy here. Daily walks to join the family, carol singing on the Harbour Arm at Folkestone, meal at Rocksalt, beautiful crib service at the Sandgate church. Going back with very happy memories and hoping to return for a further visit. Thank you Joanna.

This trip was a birthday gift from my wife and we both fell in love with Pebbles. The bed was so comfortable and we woke every morning to the most wonderful sea views. Such a beautiful space with all the mod cons you could wish for. Jo is so sweet and helpful - such a lovely lady. We so enjoyed our walks into Folkestone to the Harbour Arm and the funky bar at the end. We even managed to watch a storm from our bed. Amazing place and a lovely coastline. Thank you Jo.

We've been here celebrating our honeymoon having got married last week. What a beautiful and peaceful place. We couldn't have asked for a better mini break. Joanna made us feel so welcome and left us a lovely bottle of fizz that we enjoyed on the deck in the sunshine. Perfection. We hope to be back.

Pebbles is such pretty perfection! Jo, such a lovely welcoming and kind host. Wonderfully located on the coastal path with beautiful sea views and what feels like a private beach, and such a lovely cosy immaculate haven to return to after a blustery day. Thank you so much. I'll definitely come again.

5/5

What a beautiful, immaculate place! I have had the most wonderful few days here - I have been thoroughly hypnotised by the constant sound of the waves, and can't remember the last time I felt so calm and relaxed. I'll be sad to go to bed tonight without any sea to listen to! Thank you for taking such care over the small details which make a difference and for being so kind and thoughtful more generally. I can't wait to come back.

Tess | 08 October 2018

5/5

Pebbles the most beautiful, cutest little gem ever found on the coast. We stayed for two nights and it was absolutely delightful, a real pleasure. So peaceful and quiet, we forgot what calm meant until we arrived here. Not really sure we can face noisy London again. Thanks for the amazing retreat. Battery fully charged to go back to civilisation again!

Coraly and Ismaed | 10 September 2018

A superb stay at Pebbles. We loved running down to the clear sea several times a day for a swim and eating out locally each evening. A lovely little bolthole - transporting us to exotic places - the weather helped too. Weren't we lucky! Thanks to Joanna and Jerry - wonderful hosts.

Helen and Kevyn | 06 August 2018

5/5

Wonderful hosts, wonderful views, wonderful weather and a gorgeous little weekend bolt hole for our child-free escape! Thank you so much for sharing this with us, it was such a privilege to be so close to the sea. Waking up, looking out the window and looking at the view each morning was so special. The coast path was a beautiful walk whichever direction we went and Hythe was well worth the visit when we eventually managed to drag ourselves out of the comfy chairs on the terrace!

Amiel and Peter | 09 July 2018

5/5

Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing quiet weekend. We've walked miles both ways to Folkestone and Hythe Railway Station along the coast path and Military Canal. Hythe is a wonderful High Street, with some lovely independents, especially the butchers! their sausage and meats were great. The garden heater and blankets are a godsend, for the evening with the glass of wine and excellent view. The Battle of Britain Museum and Memorial worth the visit if you enjoy history as we do. We have done beach cleans before, and we are really impressed with the beach and the streets are well cared for. Pebbles has been a lovely base. Thank you.

Kerry and Carl | 04 June 2018

We've had a lovely relaxing long weekend, perfect weather and fabulous hosts. From breakfast in the sun on the patio to bbq on the quarterdeck, through to late night drinks under the heater watching the lightening storm. Perfect little getaway for two people and we look forward to coming back for more sun.
